Travel Time Rapidly Approaching

I have about 3 days to go until I leave on my trip.  I was up at 5 a.m. today and I thought, since I can’t sleep, it would be a great time to do some more packing in the camper. It is in the mid 90’s during the day which makes it really hot inside the camper. So, the cooler morning air is a better alternative for packing. I filled my water tank, and turned on the refrigerator so I can put food in it this weekend.  It used to take my fridge a full day to get cold when I turned it on. Someone gave me a great tip last year. They said to put a bag of ice in the fridge when I turn it on and it will get cold faster.  It works!!! In about 3 hours or so the fridge is cold enough to put food in it and still know that it will be safe to eat.

Yesterday, my first day of retirement, I did some errands, had lunch with a friend, and got to take a nap in the afternoon. Thanks to a gift from a friend, my bicycle now has  LED lights on the front and back for safety.  I also was gifted an ax so I can chop logs and branches for firewood when the opportunity presents itself.

I’m almost finished packing everything I want to take, and I think it will all fit and have a place to be stored.  I got a new fire extinguisher which was needed since my other one is about 5 years old and on empty.

This afternoon I took my mom to lunch and drove her to some stores she needed to go to.  It’s good that we are having this time together since we won’t see each other for several months.   Yesterday, I got an email from a friend of mine saying that her dad who was 62 lost his battle with cancer.  We need to cherish the time we have with ourselves and others and make memories that will be with us for our lifetimes.
