Camping World New Fridge August 2, 2011

Camping World Burlington, WA

August 1-2, 2011

I got to Camping World Monday afternoon and I drove around the area to explore it. I drove along a road and got to a mountain, I drove up the winding mountain road and found a nice restaurant so I stopped for lunch. It was more the setting for a nice expensive dinner, but it was a lunch. I had some fried oysters and looked out over the sound which was at low tide and looked like a dry muddy lake bottom. The oyster beds were clearly visable. The people at the table 2 over were speaking french, then a group came in next to me, there were 8 of them and evidently there was a wedding of the son of one of the couples the night before. Everyone was drinking wine at lunch and the more they all drank the louder they got. I was glad I was almost finished by the time they began.

I drove back to town and found a spot behind the Camping World store where I could hook to electric for the night and be here first thing in the morning.

I got up this morning, Tuesday, and cleared all I could from the area where they would have to remove the window to remove and install my new fridge. They will have to move everything else. I took some peanut butter cheese crackers for a snack and didn’t know what I would do for lunch. It turns out that a food coach came by for the workers and I was able to buy a taco and other mexican sandwich for lunch. It was really great.

Since I have about 4-5 hours today to wait while they install my fridge, I found an electrical outlet in the waiting room to type my adventures for the last 2 weeks. I have to walk across the street to their RV sales area to get wi-fi to upload these 3 stories. I know some of you have missed my updates and knowing where I am and what I’ve been up to. I have not really had electricity or wi-fi or been near it much in the last 2 weeks. I had to get to town to do so, and it wasn’t easy to do it. I know you understand. My phone does work most of the time, and I am 3 hours behind the east coast time. A good time for me to talk is after 7 p.m. When I am settling down for the night and by then most everyone I know is probably asleep since it’s 10 p.m. EST. If you are awake and want to talk, feel free to call me in the evening. I am usually up until 10 p.m. PST and I get up about 6 a.m. PST it’s light here by 5:30 and I wake up early.

I will leave here tomorrow, August 3rd, and head down towards Ginko State Petrified Forest in southern Washington. I will probably stay there one night. I have reservations at Plymouth Campground which is a Corp of Engineer Park in WA, just north of the Oregon border. I will be there Friday until Monday, then I will continue south through Pendleton, OR, and stop at the Pendleton Factory and see if I can get a tour. Then I will head south through Idaho into Utah. I found several interesting places to stop at along the way, thanks to a book someone gave me of 1,000 places to see off the beaten path. I’ve used that book several times, it gives me some ideas of what might be of interest in the area I am driving through. Ginko State Forest is not in my path, but it looks like a detour of about an hour or so and worth the trip.

I will write more when I can and I will update the articles with photos, when I get wi-fi and can download the pictures from my camera.
