Update from Elm Mott

Today I got up and walked a mile to the cheese shop to say hi to whoever was working there.  I also got a small piece of cheese to snack on.  Then I walked back to the Yardens house.

Later on Kim and I planted some flowers in her flower bed.  The fruit trees are blooming and starting to bear fruit. I saw small peaches, pears, and plums. There are lots of moths and they can damage the fruit so Kim had a recipe for moth traps so we made 22 of them. It was very interesting. We mixed cider vinegar, molasses/sorghum, and ammonia and added water. We poured it into empty gallon plastic jugs and cut a hole in the top side of it and hung them in the fruit trees. We were not sure it was going to work, but this morning when I went out and looked, there were lots of dead moths floating in the liquid.  Very interesting.

Today I went for a walk again, and then took a short nap. Kim has a great garden and she cut a large head of cabbage for cole slaw for dinner and we also picked some fresh carrots.  From garden to table the same day. It’s a blessing to have such fresh food.

It’s been raining on and off today so it sort of limited our activities. We were going to weed the potato bed but decided to wait until another day.

I will take some pictures of the garden and wild flowers and post them online when I get a chance.
