Last night about 9 p.m. I heard some thunder in the distance. A while later I saw flashes of light. Then came some light raindrops. Then more thunder, lightening, and harder rain. What a spectacular symphony Nature provided. As the wind entered the composition, and the rain came down harder, I prayed harder asking for everyone and our campers to be safe. At times, I could hear it easing up a bit, only for a short time. I fell asleep about 11:15 p.m. and I woke at 1:15 a.m. I looked out the window and to my surprise the sky was filled with LOTS of stars and I saw the Big Dipper just above the horizon. Since there was no lights in the campsite, the stars looked so bright and large. The only sounds were of Nature, wind, birds, etc. It was so peaceful and spiritual. I’m sure being in a sacred ground area also helped. I want to thank God, Creator, Great Mystery, Grandfather, Higher Power, or whatever you choose to call your source, for this magnificent experience.
I am in a McDonalds in Sturgis, SD this morning writing this article, and posting the previous two that I wrote the last couple of nights. I am not sure if there are typo’s, etc. in my writing. Since I am using the keyboard of my laptop which I am not used to, and also typing at night when I am tired, please overlook anything that may not be totally correct grammatically or punctuation wise.
Today I am headed towards Devil’s Tower which I believe is in Wyoming just east of South Dakota. I will write more when I have Internet access again.
Listen to the wind as you walk around the base of Devils Tower. I swear you can hear prayers of those who have come before you, especially on the north side. Happy Trails!
Just read your entire log! What a great trip you have already had. Haven’t been doing much email since typing is difficult and painful. If you get a chance travel on the Bear Tooth Hwy. It is spectacular and the snow is 30-40 feet above the road!! Pictures on the internet. Love!!!
