Coming Clean in Seattle

July 8 and 9, 2011

I arrived in Seattle on Friday, July 8th,  I am visiting with my friend Patt.  When she got home from work we had a nice chat catching up on life and then we went out for dinner. We also drove around the area where she lives and we stopped at Lake Washington as the sun was going down and the sky was turning a nice pink color.

After dinner, Patt was really kind and let me do my laundry which I really appreciated. I hadn’t done any since I left home on June 20th. But I brought enough clothes to figure I would be doing laundry about every 10-14 days.

Photos of Seattle and my visit there.

Sleeping in a regular size bed under a down comforter was really a treat after sleeping on the narrow bed in my camper under a wool blanket and being limited on space. It is a nice break to be in a house and be able to have room to walk around. I slept until about 9 a.m. which is unusual for me. Patt and I think the restaurant put some sleeping medicine in our food since we both slept late.  Perhaps staying up until after midnight had something to do with our sleeping late.

This morning (Saturday) I got up, and took a nice warm shower. I don’t want you to think I stay dirty, I do wash up frequently, and it has been fairly cool where I have been so I’m not sweating, but as for actual opportunities to shower, they have been infrequent. So I really appreciate having a nice shower to wash my hair, rinse off, attend to my medical stuff, and get into clean clothes all at the same time.  A few of the campgrounds I stayed in had showers, but several did not since they didn’t have any water or electric in the forestry and some state parks.

I will be staying with Patt for a few days, she has graciously offered me a place to stay while I am in the area, until I have to be at my pow wows.  Today (Saturday) we are going to go explore Seattle and the surrounding area and see the sights.  It’s a beautiful sunny day here and we are going to take advantage of it. More later.
