I arrived in Baker City, OR on August 10th, it’s an old historic gold mining town from 1874. Almost all buildings are historical sites. It’s very interesting. I found a local mexican restaurant and had a late lunch. The main narrative for this is on the previous post. I came back to MacDonalds today to update my photo page. I don’t usually take time to reread all my posts so if there are typos, etc. I know you understand.
I forgot to add to the Baker City post yesterday, that this was an old gold mining town, and one of the local banks, the US Bank has a display of gold nuggets of various sizes. It was very interesting to see the raw gold, including one that was about 8 grams I think, it was a really large nugget.
Also, Bank of America is housed in an old historic building, it was very interesting to go inside and see it.
Check out the photo gallery page where you can see the pictures from the last few weeks. I leave here today and travel to the Oregon Trail Interpretative Center, then on to Oxbow Canyon to see if I can get a campsite.
