Sawgrass Recreation Area, Florida Everglades

IMG_8576IMG_8573On my way back to Deerfield Beach from South Bay Campground, I met my friend Pam and we took an airboat ride through the Everglades, after which we walked around the zoo they had on the premises.  Photo album.IMG_8646

IMG_8620In the zoo area, the park attendants offered to let people hold a baby alligator, for a $2 donation.  I did not want to hold one, even for free. They did have it’s mouth taped closed so it would not be able to bite, but I still had no desire to do it. I took a picture of someone else holding it.

IMG_8585                                                                           We enjoyed the ride and even got to see 2 alligators, we thought since it was a sunny day that we would see more, and some wildlife, but it was not to be. Maybe next time.

It was nice to be out on the water and be in an airboat which glides above the water and goes through the sawgrass and water plants.  IMG_8633
