Juniper Springs National Recreation Area, Ocala National Forest

As I was leaving Monday morning after the Chambers Farm Pow Wow, I decided rather than going home the same way I came up the Florida Turnpike and I-75, that I would take 40 east and stop by Juniper Springs Recreational Area in the Ocala Forest. I had camped there several years ago and it was beautiful. Since that trip was before I started my website, I had not written about it or posted any pictures. So, I thought, since it was on my way that I would stop there. It was an overcast day so the pictures are not as bright as they could be, but it’s still quiet and beautiful. There are rolling springs in several areas along the ¾ mile walk from the parking lot to the large ponds with the rolling springs. The water in this park is crystal clear. I saw a large turtle swimming, but with the shadows of the trees and water it was difficult to get a great picture.

If you get to visit the Ocala Forest, stop by Juniper Springs, and neighboring Salt Springs, and Alexandria Springs. They are all interesting to explore. In the summertime the parks are filled with families swimming in the springs and having lots of fun. I took pictures as I was walking along the boardwalk, so feel free to take the walk with me by looking at this photo album. Think about the weather being a bit cool and drizzly to get the feel of what I experienced this day.
