Getting ready for the trip

In preparation for my trip, I had shelves installed in my small closet to better utilize the space. In a 19′ camper van, space is very limited and I have been finding creative ways to make the most of the space by using lightweight containers to store items.

At one store in the children’s section I found some lightweight 6′ long mesh tubes  that are divided every foot. I got a curtain rod that I put across the inside ceiling of the camper and these tubes will be great to store lightweight items such as socks, washcloths, etc. I bought some hooks so I can swag them up in the insert of the ceiling so they will be out of the way.  These will brighten the inside of the camper, since they are hot pink, turquoise, and melon green. You know how much I love bright colors!!!

I will be bringing my inflatable kayak, folding bike, pop up screen tent, small Weber grill, my new Relay For Life hammock, and of course my digital camera.

Since I love doing crafts, so I am bringing some yarn to make hats and scarfs from baby to adult sizes, and some fabric to make small quilt tops.  I will find hospitals and places along the way to donate these items.  I won’t have a TV, so instead I downloaded several audio books and music CDs on my laptop, and I will bring some paperback books.
