After seeing the hot air balloons and hummingbird, I headed towards Canyonlands National Park in Utah. I knew I had a long drive and I also had to stop for gas and groceries. I thought I would stop in Provo, UT since it was on the way and a large city sure to have a grocery store. The GPS sure came in handy for finding a grocery store and getting me there. After stocking up on food and filling the gas tank, I headed south. The GPS sure has come in handy so many times for making sure I take the correct roads and helping me find my way.
Photos of Canyonlands National Park
The landscape is still high desert and varied like other roadways. I took some photos along the way and they are in the Canyonlands photo gallery. Canyonlands is so beautiful, and very colorful, as well as having interesting rock formations.
I found a spot in the campground and after driving around all the paved roads and walking some paths, and taking LOTS of pictures, I settled into the campground and ate dinner.
Like other parks, this one did not have any water or electric, and it was HOT and DRY. I wished I had a 4 wheel drive vehicle, I would have been able to drive down this really steep and curving road to the bottom of the canyon.
I got up on Wednesday morning and stopped at Dead Horse Point State Park which was a partway between Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. It was very beautiful and a little different canyon than Canyonlands in that this one has the Green River flowing through it. I took lots more pictures here since it was a bit different than Canyonlands.
After I leave here, I will drive the short distance to Arches National Park.
